Hi Reader,

Welcome to the first edition of vervology® soapbox, where I share one tip to help you grow your business and two reasons why it works. Let’s get right into it.

This week’s focus

Don't let your domain registration expire.

Please, please, please make sure your website's contact information is up-to-date at all times. You should be checking that your name, address, phone number, and email address are all accurate and current within your domain registration settings.

Here’s why this matters

Reason 1: Outdated domain information could mean losing your website.

If your domain registrar (the company that registered your website name) needs to get in touch with you but your email address is old, you’ll never see that message.

The result? Your domain name will expire, which means losing your website address, all of your website content…everything you worked so hard on.

Reason 2: It can protect your website from hijackers.

Outdated information can make your website more vulnerable to hijacking.

If someone gains unauthorized access to your domain, they could redirect your website traffic to a malicious site, damage your reputation, or even steal sensitive customer data. Yikes...

What you can do

Take a minute right now to log in to your domain registrar (ie. GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and double-check that all of your information is correct. Trust me, this simple step can save you a lot of headaches down the road.

If you need any help figuring out where to find this information or how to update it, just hit reply and let me know – I'm always happy to help.

Best,

Jono
